We should not be surprised; our own prayers, especially prayers that should uncover our adulterous actions and hearts to God, tend to go flabby. We shrink from God’s bittersweet touch. All of us need to be taught and trained to pray more biblically, and many counselees need to learn the basics of prayer. The Scripture is full of prayers to which we can turn to inform, inspire, and shape our own prayers.
